A good start to the new year?

New Year's Day has always been my most favoritest day of the year. Long before I met Hans, I would spend the day in my pajamas, watching marathon episodes of The Twilight Zone, and sewing my heart out!

This was my first New Year's Day in the apartment and I warned Hans in advance that if The Twilight Zone was on, he was in trouble!

It was, he was, and I had a wonderful day!!!

Just so you don't think I'm a total ogre, we do have another TV, and as long as Hans can see the picture, he's ok. So he watched football (muted) while I watched my Twilight Zones, and sewed.

Hans' mother had a saying (shared by many) that went something like this: whatever you do on New Year's Day; you'll end up doing for the rest of the year.
I sure hope so!

Now, I'm not a superstitious person (at least I don't think I am) but a couple of things happened on New Year's Day that, if I were a superstitious, would have me humming a happy little tune.

I was making breakfast, and when I was cracking the eggs open I thought they all seemed awfully big. Then I realized I'd gone and bought Jumbo Eggs instead of Large (the grocery store was NUTS and I also went and bought jalepenos instead of green chiles!).

Check it out!
A double yolked egg!! The two smaller ones toward the bottom were in one egg shell.
I think this is maybe only about the third time I've found one, and I made Hans come into the kitchen to look!

Then Hans walked up the street to get us a paper, and when he came home he was excited to show me the lucky penny he found on the sidewalk.

A double yolked egg, and a lucky penny, all on New Year's Day!

I'll take my luck any way I can get it!

A prequel to the night before; New Year's Eve.

Hans and I ringing in the new year with chambord and champagne.
I have on my $3.00 Walmart jammies.
We watched the ball drop and had a wonderful evening! It doesn't get any better than this!

What a great way to spend the day! And it sounds like you will have lots of luck for the coming year.

I was able to sew too so I should be good for the year if Han's mother is right. And I've heard that saying before.

Happy New Year!
Does this mean you'll be wearing those nice jammies every day of 2010?
